There are some old marks on the top of this chest, as well as some splitting in the grain of the wood on the sides, caused by years of changes of temperatures, all signs of age related wear and tear as would be expected on a piece of furniture of this age (circa 1890). The plinth on the left hand side rear has had a small section removed, probably to allow it to fit in someone's home. These with the original handles on the drawers and the wonderful grain of the pine all add to the absolute gorgeousness and character of this antique piece.
