This tall rustic pine housekeeper’s cupboard, dating from around 1880, is a wonderful example of practical country furniture with real heritage. Made from solid pine, it has aged beautifully — its wear, marks, and patina speaking of a lifetime of honest use. This is not a pristine or elegant piece, but a sturdy, characterful cupboard that embodies the charm of its working history.

Standing at an impressive 210 cm high, the cupboard was originally made as one complete piece, but at some point in its long life it was carefully cut in half horizontally to make it easier to move into a home. The two sections still align perfectly when stacked, retaining the appearance and stature of the original cupboard.

Each half features a cupboard with two doors, enclosing shelved interiors ideal for practical everyday storage.

For longer distances, I use a trusted courier who has safely delivered my furniture for several years. His care and attention mean items arrive exactly as they leave me. Long‑distance deliveries are usually between £110–£150, depending on where you are. He works alone, so help will be needed at your end.

Vintage touches

As stated above this cupboard has seen lots of age related marks of age - from old woodworm holes, to the fact that the doors do not hang absolutely straight. This does not detract from its rustic attractiveness or of its use for years to come.
