Antique Ladderback Chair - Lancashire

A striking example of 19th-century English craftsmanship, this ladderback chair hails from the Billinge area of Lancashire.

The design showcases classic regional characteristics: a curved top rail with distinctive "ears" that pass gracefully over the uprights, four graduated curved ladder slats, and a hand-woven rush seat that speaks to its authentic heritage.

The turned front legs terminate in pad feet and are supported by a turned front stretcher and multiple side stretchers, ensuring both structural integrity and visual elegance.

The dark wood finish bears the rich patination of age, revealing the natural weathering that only genuine 19th-century pieces possess.
