This charming 19th century pine chest of drawers is a wonderful example of traditional craftsmanship, full of character and quiet decorative detail. Finished in its original scumbled paint to imitate birdseye maple, it has a warmth and depth that only comes with time, giving the piece a beautifully convincing faux wood grain effect.

The classic two over three drawer configuration offers both balance and practicality, while the hand-painted pinstripe and delicate scroll detailing add a gentle elegance without feeling overdone. Painted escutcheons and the original handles remain in place, preserving its authenticity and telling the story of its age.

Raised on turned feet, the chest has a pleasing stance and presence, making it as useful as it is decorative. Dating from the mid-19th century, it carries all the subtle imperfections and patina you would hope for in a piece of this era.

A genuinely individual piece, perfect for adding warmth and interest to a bedroom or living space, and for anyone drawn to the charm of antique furniture with a softly decorative touch.

Vintage touches

This piece is in very good condition for its age (c1860), having a few marks in the painted finish on the top. The feet are replacements as is often the case with older drawers and it has been professionally cut in half at some point in its very long life making it easier to move into smaller homes. 

Delivery is not included.

Local delivery typically begins at £30.
For longer distances, I use a trusted courier who has safely delivered my furniture for several years. His care and attention mean items arrive exactly as they leave me. Long‑distance deliveries are usually between £110–£150, depending on where you are. He works alone, so help will be needed at your end.
