Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Workshop for Beginners - Sunday 15th June

Thinking of Painting Your Own Furniture? Start Here!

Have you ever looked at a beautifully painted chest of drawers or side table and thought, “I wish I could do that”? Well, the good news is — you absolutely can. And I’ve got just the thing to help you get started.

On Sunday 15th June, I’ll be running a brand new Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Workshop for Beginners  here in the shop. It’s a relaxed, practical day designed especially for beginners — or for anyone who’s been tempted to try painting furniture but isn’t quite sure where to begin.

We’ll start the day by exploring a range of techniques using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and waxes. On practice boards, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create a smooth, clean finish

  • Add texture and character

  • Use two-colour distressing

  • Work confidently with clear and coloured waxes

Once you’ve had a go and found your feet, you’ll move on to painting a small item you’ve brought with you — something manageable like a bedside table or a dining chair. It’s a great way to try out your new skills on a real piece, with help on hand every step of the way.

Everything you need is provided: paints, brushes, tools — and even aprons to keep your clothes safe. You’ll also enjoy refreshments and a light lunch, and there’ll be plenty of time to chat, ask questions, and get inspired. Best of all, you’ll receive 10% off any Annie Sloan products on the day if you decide to carry on painting at home.

Numbers are kept small (just four per class), so I can give everyone plenty of time and guidance. If you’d like to join in, just head over to the workshop page here to book your spot.

A few FAQs to help you plan:

  • What do I bring?
A small piece of furniture that you can carry into the shop yourself — such as a chair or bedside table. I’ll just ask you to send me a quick photo in advance to check it’s the right size.

  • What time is the workshop?
We’ll start at 10am and finish around 4pm, with a break for lunch and tea.

  • Can I cancel if I can’t make it?
Workshop bookings are non-refundable, but if something comes up, I’ll do my best to offer a transfer to another date if there’s space.

If you’ve been waiting for a little encouragement to give furniture painting a go — this is your sign. I’d love to help you get started.
