Adding Botanical Detail with Chalk Paint – Highlights from Our March Workshop

Adding Botanical Detail with Chalk Paint – Highlights from

What a wonderful creative day we had at the Adding Botanical Detail with Chalk Paint workshop with Lily Faith! Held here at Source for the Goose, the shop was full of colour, laughter, and busy hands as everyone explored ways to bring a touch of nature into their painting.

A Day of Creative Inspiration

This hands-on day was all about painting botanical details , with an emphasis on the British countryside —using primroses as our theme and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Whether people arrived confident with a brush or complete beginners, everyone left with something beautiful and uniquely their own.

Some of the things we explored together:

  • How to plan out your design on a practice board
  • Techniques for layering colour and blending shades naturally
  • Tips for using fine brushes to add those small, detailed flourishes
  • Creative ideas hand-painting into future furniture projects

You could really see everyone's confidence growing throughout the afternoon. It was a joy to watch each person find their own style and voice through paint.

What People Created

By the end of the workshop, each participant had painted a practice board with their version of a primrose and its leaves. What is always amazing is how everyone's looked so different.

I was so inspired from the event, I even painted a small stool!

The workshop had wonderful feedback:
'It was great having the opportunity to try a new creative technique under the guidance of Lily, where the steps were broken down.
Lily gave me the confidence to paint in detail and that each step was unique to the individual painting the piece, so did not have to be uniform or exactly as the set example.
This course definitely gave me ideas of how I could further use & develop the techniques learnt, something I may not have tried without Lily's guidance. '
