Adding Botanical Detail: A Chalk Paint Workshop with Lily Faith
There’s something quietly joyful about adding painted detail to furniture — the sort that feels considered rather than perfect, and personal rather than mass-produced. This spring, I’m delighted to be welcoming Lily Faith into the shop for a hands-on workshop focused on just that.
Lily’s work is rooted in close observation of the natural world, particularly the flora and fauna found close to home. For this workshop, she has created a series of spring-inspired floral stencil designs that act as a starting point rather than a rulebook — giving you the freedom to interpret, soften and build upon them in your own way.
During the afternoon, Lily will demonstrate how to work with fine brushes over a stencilled base to create a more organic, hand-painted finish. It’s a gentle introduction to decorative painting techniques that can be as detailed or as restrained as you like, making it suitable whether you’re completely new to this style or looking to expand your existing skills.
The focus is very much on learning, experimenting and enjoying the process. Everything you’ll need is provided on the day, and there’ll be time to ask questions, try techniques at your own pace, and gather ideas you can take home and use again.
Lily’s stencils will also be available to buy, so you can continue exploring botanical details on your own furniture long after the workshop ends.
